Want to be in ‘Friends’?

MANILA, Philippines? It?s been a few years since the ?Friends? season ended, but we?re still not over it. Not with DVDs piled high in our homes and the show?s reruns still being aired.

After spending hours talking about Rachel, Chandler, Ross, Joey, Phoebe and Monica and laughing about our favorite ?Friends? episodes, my friends and I decided to throw a special ?Friends? party. We wanted to relive the time we spent with our six coffee-chugging buddies.

It was fun and it lasted all night. The best part? Preparing the party was half the fun. Here?s how you can throw your own ?Friends? party:

Invite friends who love the same TV show. We used Multiply.com to send out our invites ?pretty easy considering most of our friends are online all the time and are very active on Multiply.

You may choose to do a text or e-mail brigade instead. Or, if you?re a Monica, send out official invites that are perfectly designed and properly labeled.

Plan the menu. We planned one that would make Joey proud.

We made sure our menu included food that were highlighted in the show. Lasagna, meatball subs, pizza, cheesecake.

We ordered the pizza but made the rest of the food from scratch.

It helps to spot which of your friends are kitchen-savvy. We used recipes from a real ?Friends? recipe book (yes, there?s one), but you can find recipes for all these dishes online, too.

Plan fun activities. We screened our favorite ?Friends? episodes at the party. We sang Phoebe?s songs randomly. We also played two rounds of ?Friends? Scene It, a fun DVD game that tests your ?Friends? IQ (Scene It games are available in Hobbes and Landes branches). We?re lucky we had a friend who was willing to act as the game host. Remember Bamboozled?

If your friends are into it, make them come in costume. Our original plan was to ask our friends to come as their favorite ?Friend? (Want to be Chandler? Wear a vest. Could that be any easier?) but only one girl arrived as Phoebe, in a long bohemian skirt, carrying a bag that was covered with buttons. One guy arrived wearing a ?Friends? shirt. It was pretty cool, but it wasn?t really a costume.

Not a fan of Friends?

Here?s how you can throw other TV show-themed parties

?Sex and the City? soiree. My friends and I are planning to do this next. Make it a ladies? night. But okay, invite your gay friends, too. Serve cosmopolitans, cupcakes and Miranda?s giant chocolate-chip cookie. Watch your special episodes, play trivia games (get your hands on the ?Sex and the City? game or make your own). Debate on whether Carrie should have ended up with Aidan or Big.

?CSI Crime Night.? Watch your favorite episodes, play ?CSI? games (also available at Hobbes and Landes), play a whodunit mystery game. Try to decide which is the best?Las Vegas, New York or
Miami. Serve crime-themed drinks?red Kool-Aid or wine for blood.

?South Park? vs ?The Simpsons? vs ?The Family Guy.? It?s the party for crazy cartoon lovers. Screen your favorite episodes, serve beer (if you?re legal), burgers and chips and hold a burping contest.

?American Idol.? Hold a singing contest. Get someone to play Simon, Randy and Paula. Try not to strangle the friend who plays Simon.
