The lady is a tramp

THE ARANETA Coliseum was packed from mosh pit to the bleachers. Everyone had come to dance to the music of the artist who is ?bluffin? with her muffin.?

It?s not enough she wrote catchy tunes with jaw-dropping lyrics; Lady Gaga sealed the deal with an outrageous wardrobe on and off stage, an in-your-face attitude in interviews, and an urban mythology that is growing online.

Lady Gaga is not just a performer, she is the show. The great songs are just part and parcel of the extravaganza. The person is just as entertaining as the music.

But Lady Gaga going live is the true test. Is she all hype?

Unlike many artists on world tours, Lady Gaga treated this as if it were the concert of her life. She engaged the crowd, danced with fervor, and sang her lungs out. Before ?Beautiful, Dirty, Rich,? she told the crowd her best friend back in New York is a Filipina and recalled how they dreamed of making it big one day. The crowd ate it all up.

She had over four costume changes, brought a motorcycle onstage for ?The Fame,? played the key-tar and wore various hairstyles.

The crowd sang along to non-single songs (?Boys, Boys, Boys? and ?Eh, Eh (Nothing Else I Can Say),? proving that they weren?t there just for ?Poker Face.?

After the energetic crowd pleaser ?Just Dance,? Lady Gaga went off stage for another costume change and returned in bubble dress, silver wig, and mask. The piano, also decked in pink bubble wrap, was brought out, and the audience exploded into applause. They knew they would get their acoustic version of ?Poker Face,? which has proven that the lady can sing and that she is a true musician.

She then began to play and sing ?Brown Eyes,? the only song in ?The Fame? that comes close to a ballad. Then, to everyone?s delight, she began to strip her bubble dress to reveal a two-piece that left very little to the imagination. She repeated her performance on Ellen DeGeneres? show by squatting on her piano chair while playing the piano.

At the song?s crescendo, the crowd sang the chorus for her as she played with her two hands and right foot, slamming on the keys and punching out every word. It was magic.

Not one to end on such a note, Lady GaGa was joined by her dancers and band for a full dance version of ?Poker Face? as the crowd sang and danced along.

There was no doubt the Philippines was in a swoon. We can?t wait to see her back here next year ? with or without the second album, we?ll all wear our poker faces.
